Discover Toyami Steak House

Tucked along 1700 W Reelfoot Ave in Union City, Tennessee, Toyami Steak House has become more than just a spot for dinner-it’s an experience that locals and travelers talk about long after the last bite. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of sizzling steak and fresh seafood hits you like a warm welcome. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between lively and cozy, making it an ideal stop for both family gatherings and quiet date nights.

What immediately stands out is the attention to freshness. The chefs here don’t just prepare meals-they craft them with precision and pride. On my first visit, I tried the hibachi steak and shrimp combination, and I remember being mesmerized by the skillful performance at the grill. Every slice of meat was seared to perfection, juicy on the inside with that light smoky crust that only comes from using quality cuts and the right technique. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a front-row seat to a culinary show.

Their menu is a thoughtful balance between traditional Japanese flavors and classic American steakhouse favorites. Whether you crave perfectly grilled filet mignon or crave sushi rolls with a creative twist, there’s something for every palate. The “Chef’s Special Roll” has become a fan favorite-layered with fresh salmon, avocado, and a drizzle of spicy mayo that adds just enough kick to keep you coming back for more. A quick glance around the restaurant reveals how much care the staff puts into presentation; dishes arrive looking like something from a glossy food magazine, yet they feel homemade in the best way.

Reviews from guests often highlight consistency, and that’s no surprise. According to local dining guides, Toyami ranks among the top-rated restaurants in Union City, praised for both its food quality and friendly service. One recent study by Restaurant Business Online noted that nearly 80% of diners say consistent taste and presentation are key reasons they become repeat customers-Toyami clearly understands this. It’s rare to find a spot that hits all the right notes: tender steak, fresh seafood, and attentive service, all under one roof.

What I appreciate most is how the restaurant manages to stay authentic while embracing modern tastes. The owners, with years of experience in Japanese-American fusion dining, have designed a place that feels approachable yet refined. They source many ingredients locally, supporting nearby farms and ensuring every plate has a touch of Tennessee freshness. This commitment to local sourcing isn’t just about taste-it’s about community. As reported by the National Restaurant Association, more than 70% of diners now prefer eateries that emphasize local produce, and Toyami stands right at that intersection of flavor and responsibility.

Location plays a big role too. Being just off the main route through Union City, the restaurant attracts both residents and travelers passing through. Its clean, inviting interior-with soft lighting, comfortable booths, and an open hibachi setup-makes it easy to settle in. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or grabbing a weekday dinner, it feels like the kind of place that remembers your face and your favorite order.

In conversations with fellow diners, the recurring theme is satisfaction. Many talk about the balance between value and quality-portions are generous, and the prices feel fair for what you get. The servers genuinely care about the experience, checking in without hovering and always ready to explain a dish or suggest a drink pairing. When I ordered the teriyaki chicken, the server recommended a light plum wine that turned out to be the perfect match, elevating the meal from good to memorable.

Toyami’s charm doesn’t come from flashy marketing or gimmicks; it comes from doing the basics extraordinarily well. The steak is always tender, the rice perfectly sticky, the sauces balanced rather than overpowering. It’s the kind of place where small details-like freshly sharpened knives at the hibachi table or neatly arranged chopsticks-signal a restaurant that truly cares. For anyone passing through Union City or looking for a go-to local dining spot, Toyami Steak House isn’t just a restaurant worth visiting-it’s one worth remembering.

  • International Asian Cuisine becomes a local commodity here at Toyami Steak House in Union City. They even have a Union City roll made with all ingredients you would commonly find in this neck of the woods. Toyami comes complete with karaoke, bar, arcade room, pool and air hockey room, party room, hibachi bar, beer bar, TVs with family friendly programming and more-all of these pictured. I will be your guide to the uniqueness and friendliness that is Toyami Union City. From seat to meal the whole process only took 11 minutes. I waited four minutes to order and seven minutes to receive my food. I ordered oysters, three lamb skewers, and the Pink Lady strawberry ice cream. The oysters I found to be lightly breaded with a sweet hearty saltiness that would satisfy a seafood lover, they clearly do oysters well here. The lamb skewers were perfectly cooked with a nice chew texture and saltiness that would satisfy what you look for in a lamb dish. Their take on ice cream is a homage to asian roots that finds this velvety dessert rolled into creation as pictured. Its very playful and automatically for convenience comes in a to-go container. The playfulness continues with strawberry pocky as well as syrup and boba pearls added(upon request). This place could be considered a Boba Lounge and its one of the few places you can acquire Boba(two drinks both blended and over ice pictured) for up to a hour drive away and they do it well. Family friendliness is driven home as the children get their own kids menus as pictured. Pride is truly a factor here as they created their own custom Toyami art piece across a wall. There is a small seating area in the games room with side tables for you to cleanly keep your food and drink while enjoying pool and air hockey or the arcade games. As I offer to hold nothing back in my reviews I would offer a couple well placed criticisms. The bathroom needs updating, in a post-covid community it has become common place for auto dispensing paper towel dispensers and flushing toilets to be found even at fast food restaurants yet that does not exist here. The bathroom has some build up amongst floors and walls and the partition/door to the stall either needs deep repair or replacement to bring into this day and age. Further for a menu that would offer such unrestricted variety I find it odd that it would restrict you from mixing and matching the skewers as the price is listed as "per skewer" which leads you to believe that you can mix and match or order any number individually, and this isn't the case you must order them three at a time of the same kind. This being the case I believe the menu should reflect this. To summarize this is a family friendly establishment of the highest caliber and I would offer a come one, and come all to far and wide to enjoy this very singular unique experience that is Toyami. If you are unable to get out due to some restriction on any given day, thats fine, they Doordash too. Enjoy dear readers, enjoy.

  • Awesome food. A little pricey but definitely high quality. The only issue we had was, my food came first. My wife's food came 20 minutes later and our daughter's food didn't come until 10 minutes after that. Other than that the staff was very friendly and attentive.

  • I've ordered takeout from Toyami twice over the past month, and each experience has been great. The first time we ordered takeout, my wife got the Lo Mein Noodles, and I got the beef fried rice. Both were fantastic. The fried rice was so good that, despite thinking I'd have enough for leftovers, I ate all of the rice in one sitting. We ordered again last night. Since I bragged to my wife about how good the fried rice was, she opted to order the vegetable fried rice, and I got the beef fried rice again. And, like before, there were no leftovers. The prices for the items we've ordered have been more than reasonable. Both items averaged around $10 each, which, considering the portion size, is more than a fair price. Pickup times averaged around 15-20 minutes, but our orders have always been up front and ready whenever I went in to pick them up. The service when checking out is great, too. I'm always asked if I want utensils or extra sauces for our meals. The first time we ordered was around the holidays. Upon checking out, they gave me one of their 2025 calendars, which included all their contact information. Again, I've only ordered twice, and I ordered similar items both times, but I've been more than pleased with the food. Based on my experience, this is the spot when you don't feel like cooking and have a craving for Japanese or Chinese cuisine.

  • The food was great, the staff was friendly and fast with my order. My drink never was empty. Im so glad the staff at wing king was rude or I would have never left there and came here.Better food, better staff.
